I always envisioned Jimmy Buffett wandering into my beach bar, Latitude Blue, looking out at the Pacific, and saying, "Wow, this is pretty cool."
Jimmy never made it in person, but he did something I never could have dreamed up: he sent a film crew down to Costa Rica to shoot me at Latitude Blue, and that footage ran as the massive video backdrop for "Margaritaville" across the entire 2016 tour.
The original bar has since gone the way of Autour de Rocher and the Gull Reef Club—pretty legendary company to keep—but the spirit never faded. That spark kept bouncing around my head for years, growing louder and more insistent until the idea came screaming through the light years: I never had a choice!
At a moment like this, you can't help but wonder: What would Jimmy Buffett do? (Probably not pour a Hurricane, but definitely throw a party).
So, I secured an incredible clifftop setting at Roca Mistica in Tamarindo to build the ultimate gathering. We’re channeling the pure energy of the legendary tailgates—Jones Beach, Key West, Cleveland, Indy—the magic of the show at Moonsplash in Anguilla, and the globe-trotting camaraderie of the Paris shows. We’re bringing together Coral Reefer alumni and world-class tribute artists playing all Buffett, all weekend, steeped in the aura of Latitude Blue, along with some palm trees and tales from the South Seas.
This isn’t just another festival; it’s an authentic tribute from all of us to the man who gave us the soundtrack to our lives. And if Jimmy were looking down over the Pacific with us, I know exactly what he’d say:
"Wow, this is pretty cool."
